The Los Angeles County Fire Department has awarded a multi-unit contract to KME for 100’ tractor drawn aerials. The purchase includes a provision for fire departments nationwide that allows them to “tag-on” to the contract and take advantage of the discounted pricing until September 1, 2012.

The quint TDA’s feature KME’s Predator Severe ServiceTM chassis, air-ride suspension, 500hp engine, 2,000gpm pump, 350 gallon stainless steel water tank, and a 100’ 4 section Aerialcat™ steel ladder.

The device includes a number of fire service best features. Even with a pump and tank the overall length is under 56’ and the 14.5’ jack stance allows for setup even in the tightest of circumstances. The ladder has an unrestricted 500 pound tip load, the fire service’s widest and highest hand rails for safe travel on the ladder and photo luminescent rung covers.  Constructed from 100,000 psi steel, it’s the only steel ladder with a 2.5 to 1 structural safety factor. The ladder includes a full  -7 to +80 degree elevation range and a large unobstructed turntable.

KME’s “No Post Vision” windshield on the tiller cab eliminates the A-pillar for the greatest visibility to the front and side of the cab.  Tiller cab doors are available with either the standard hinged type door or rear sliding style.

Maintenance is a vital component of keeping an aerial device in service so KME paid particular attention to the ease of service of critical components. The wear pads are easily adjustable, removable and simple to lubricate. All pulleys are composite materials and require no lubrication, the pulleys shaft are high wear stainless steel material.

Departments with questions regarding use of this contract for purchase can call or email KME’s Director of Sales and Marketing, Phil Gerace, at 800-235-3928.
